A December trip to the bay on the Middle Texas Coast.

There were people all around here before us. Lots of people. In a lot of places. For a very long time.

Normally we don't see anything much remaining from these old cultures, but on the rare days when the water drops low enough the evidence resurfaces. This is a story of such a day with a cold, hard north wind that literally blew the tide away and brought back the past!

A cold north wind hit the bay.

The tide was blown away.

Looks like a good time to play.

A point in-situ as it lay.

Makes me glad I walked this way.

What else can I say?

Only half a point, but hey!

Here a good one lay.

It made us want to stay!

It was quite a memorable day!

Wow! One short walk proves that ancient people lived right here from at least the approx. 5,000 year old Early Archaic culture (who left the Abasolo and the Nolan type points) to the approx. 500 year old late prehistoric people (who left the Clifton point and pottery shards) with aditional time periods showing up between those two!

Gives me a renewed respect for our bay. What else can I say?
