Lampasos Type Dart Point

Conflicting data on the age of this Archaic Darl related point type. Probably over 2000 yrs BP.

Finely flaked, thin, alibates looking flint.
Personal find from Kingsland area of the Colorado River in Burnet Co.

Notes: This point was probably used as an atlatl dart point.

Darl horizon points consist of a family of point types include Darl, Darl Blade, Darl Stemmed, Brazos or Mahomet and Zephyr or Lampasos. Some research shows that these are related point types, which span an archaic time period of approx. 2000 yrs, and were made by the same cultural people. Darl Stemmed/Brazos/Mahomet and Zephyr/Lampasos are probably the same point types that were originally named two different things. I Will try to update this info when I find more consistent reference data.
