Lampasos Type Dart Point
Conflicting data on the age of this Darl related Archaic point, probably over 2000 yrs BP.
Finely flaked, thin, clear rootbeer flint.
From Bill Arnold, who found this point on his place on the Lampasas River in Burnet Co.
Notes: This was an atlatl dart point.
This is another Darl horizon point.
As an interesting side-note to the previously mentioned Darl point type confusion... this point is from the Lampasas river banks, about 10 miles from the Mahomet settlements in Burnet county, all of which is in the Brazos watershed. So, as you can see, it is from the type area for half of these related points. Maybe I should just call it a Darl and be done with it!
