Pedernales Knife or Spear point
Middle Archaic, approx 4,500 yrs BP
Made of a semi-translucent, rootbeer Georgetown flint.
This point is in Joe Johnston's collection of his Gillespie County points he found on family property in the Pedernales River area.
Note: This is a big, thin spear point or knife. This is the most common variation of the Pedernales, although it is far from common to see one this large (4"+). This picture doesn't do justice to the fine ripple flaking on this beauty.
