Batwing Pedernales Point

Middle Archaic, approx 4,500 yrs BP

Made of a rootbeer Georgetown flint.

This point is in Joe Johnston's collection of his Gillespie County points he found on family property in the Pedernales River area.

Note: The Batwing Pedernales (also called Comanche Perd) is the most prized by point collectors. The Pederales people seem to have dominated central Texas for several thousand years. There are several variations to the Pedernales points, I hope to see lots more information become available on this culture as time goes by.
