Pedernales Graver
Approx 4,500 yrs BP
Made of beautiful rootbeer flint
This point was found in Gillespie County.
Notes: It is almost certain that this was originally a dart point that had an impact fracture or a knife with a broken tip. This was a beautiful material, so it was turned into a graver for very delicate uses, such as tattoos. And I promise, it would be possible to tattoo yourself with that needle.
It is an interesting coincidence that the only Gillespie county point in my collection is a graver somewhat similar to the one's in Joe Johnston's Gillespie Co. collection.
