This rare glass tool shows excellent flaking and could have been used for many cutting purposes. My thoughts are that the people who left this in the shelter were probably having a pretty hard time of it. Between the anglo settlers coming from one side and the new tribes that were showing up in the area, the original natives were being squeezed pretty hard. By this point of contact the tool's owner was probably just making the best of a bad situation and the little rock shelter was just the place to step out of harms way.

*UPDATE NOTE: I have had several people comment that this tool was probably made of a type of clear crystal material that is found in Central Texas. After some study it appears that is most likely the case and the tool is quite likely to be of prehistoric origin. I will update this as more info becomes available.
